Ornamental apple (Malus hybrids)
The ornamental apple (Malus hybrids) is a magnificent small tree that blooms profusely, bears many fruits and is also largely resistant to all diseases.

Growth form:
The 4 to 6 meter high, medium-growing small tree has a broad, round and spreading crown, which is rarely columnar.
Leaf and flower:
The leaf color depends on the Malus variety; it's usually green, but can also be red. The flowers also vary; they're usually single and rarely semi-double. The buds are a vibrant pink to red, fading to white as they open. The mostly inedible fruits are particularly diverse in color, ranging from red to orange-red to yellow and often persisting into winter.
Site requirements/care measures:
The Malus varieties should be placed in a sunny location on fresh to moist, deep, slightly acidic to alkaline soil.
Varieties:
'Adirondack': red, very round fruits with large, white flowers
'Butterball': yellow fruit, pink flower, later fades to whitish
'Everest': orange-yellow fruit, dark pink flower, white towards the end
'Golden Hornet': strong yellow fruit, large pink flower, later lighter to whitish
'Makamik': violet-pink flowers, pale red fruits
'Rudolph': strong and large pink flowers, orange-yellow fruit
