Their diverse, opulent blooms shine from summer well into autumn and create impressive accents. Whether as a solitary plant or in combination with grasses and other summer flowers, dahlias, also called dahlias or, more rarely, dahlias, fit perfectly into any garden concept. They also delight in vases as long-lasting cut flowers and attract attention. Regular pruning extends the plant's flowering period, ensuring a constant display of new colors.

Dahlia packages 2025
After recently having to announce with regret that there will be no dahlia sale in 2025, we now have some good news for you!
Fortunately, we had secured a few varieties in a separate warehouse where we had a particularly large number of tubers. These were reserved for dahlia seed production. Instead of planting them ourselves, we decided to share them to offer you exclusive dahlia packages containing three varieties each! As a special bonus, you can get the packages at a lower price than if you bought them individually.
It all starts next Friday (28.02.25) at 9 a.m. The tubers will be
Shipped from 10.03.25 in frost-free weather!
More good news: We've been able to secure tubers of almost all varieties. When we divide them up for sale, there are always a few "shaky candidates." These aren't thrown away, but end up in our leftover bags. These bags have now saved us... everything is already potted for what we hope will be a successful cutting production. The first shoots are already visible, and we even expect to be able to offer most of our dahlia rarities as young plants at the Garden Magic at Hof Bissenbrook from May 2nd to 4th.
We hope you enjoy this opportunity and thank you for your support! 💕
More information coming soon – stay tuned!
Kind regards, Katja Hildebrandt & the Garden Magic Team

Dahlias have long since shed their outdated, kitschy image and are now more popular than ever. It's no wonder, because these perennial summer flowers transform your garden into a colorful paradise, and their blooms will delight you until the first frost. Although dahlia tubers are frost-sensitive and must be dug up in winter, dahlias are otherwise incredibly easy and uncomplicated to care for.

In our diverse range of dahlia tubers, you'll find the perfect variety to add that special something to your garden. Let your creativity run wild and discover the beauty of dahlias!

The Garden Magic Online Shop Planting and caring for dahlias
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
When can I plant dahlia tubers?
Dahlia tubers can be started indoors in a frost-free area starting in March and planted outdoors starting in May, as soon as night frosts are no longer expected. You can find out more in our Dahlia 1 x 1 .
What planting depth do dahlia tubers need?
The planting depth depends on the size of the dahlia tubers. 15 centimeters is ideal, about the depth of a spade. The tubers should be placed loosely in the hole, with the emerging shoots at the root collar covered with about 3 to 5 centimeters of soil. You can find more information in our Dahlia 1 x 1 .
What planting distance do dahlia tubers need?
Do dahlias need to be fertilized?
If the soil is good, fertilization is not necessary. Otherwise, you should fertilize with a heaped tablespoon of organic fertilizer or a complete mineral fertilizer two to three weeks after the shoots appear. This process can be repeated in July, before flowering begins. In the fall, you should stop fertilizing to allow the tubers to ripen more quickly.
Are dahlias hardy, or do I have to overwinter the dahlia tubers?
Although dahlias are perennial, they are not winter-hardy in German climates. After the first frost, you should cut the plants back to about 15 centimeters. Leave the dahlia tubers in the ground for about another week to allow them to fully ripen. In dry weather, carefully lift them with a digging fork and gently shake off the soil. Store the dahlia tubers in a frost-free, cool, and dry place, such as a shed or cellar. Temperatures between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius are ideal. Remember to label the tubers so you can distinguish between the varieties next year.
